Review 12: Equestrian National Anthem

This review is pretty special, and it should be apparent why. I have heard plenty attempts to create an anthem for us bronies, but only a couple for Equestria itself. Of course the best to come out have been for Equestria's mighty empire, but this is by far the best I have heard.

Below the following review are the words to this beautiful track. I'm actually making the review itself quite short, because there's not much to say. This is more of a spotlight so as many bronies as possible know of this song. So click past the page break and get wit' the learnin'!

The thing about the song is that it isn't actually a particularly good one in the truest sense, but it is a brilliant anthem. An anthem is not about it's quality, but about it's memorability, what it stands for, and what it says about the subject. This brilliantly communal song was put together by several bronies back in early July (about half a year ago in Brony-Time), but I very much brushed over it. I'm not sure, as I don't actually remember much of the time, but I don't think it garnered much interest. However, just yesterday, the revised edition was released.

This song can be summed up in one word: Stirring. This really should be a compulsory song for all Equestrian school assemblies. I can honestly not get over how anthem-y this song is. It even uses outdated words that nopony would say nowadays, like "dell"! It has slightly religious overtones (Praise Celestia), like a lot of anthems, and it celebrates the virtues and lifestyles that bronies are famous for. Every single brony should know at least the first verse of this song, and it should be played at the start of every convention and meetup.

I think I have praised this enough, and I'm now going to post the lyrics. I want all of you to learn them by the end of the week:

Blessed bodies of the Heavens
Sun and Moon of greatest light
Bathe us in your warm embraces
Shield us with your peerless might
Help us to stand firm as mountains
Doing right and shunning wrong
May we find our strength in friendship
Unite our herd as one group strong.

Kindness save our herd from sorrow
Laughter lift us through the day
Honesty shall purge our anger
Generous we'll be in our ways
Loyal to our roots remain us
Day by day the magic swells.
Love and tolerance shall lead us
O'er the seas and hills and dells.

In brotherhood we stand together
In sisterhood may we find grace
The Sun and Moon shall ever guide our
Never ending pony race!
Why should we fear threats of discord
Standing now all here as one?
We shall find our strength in friendship
Herd unite as one group strong

They're actually looking to create a choir of bronies, so get on your microphone, record that beautiful voice of yours and throw an email to Sprocket at sdoggingsworth@gmail.com They're always looking for vocal contributors!

  1. You somehow knew that I planned on doing this one next, didn't you? Now I have to go pick another song.
Anyway, it's a good one. As soon as I heard it, I knew it had a place here on Equestrian Rhythm, but you beat me to it, Multi.
