Weekly Top 7 #12

Get your filthy hooves off my Octavia, Blues! I only allow exceptions for Vinyl!
I was finally broken out of my little hiatus by Makkon's marvelous new song (and a delightful storm we just experienced), so I'm back on the proverbial horse (slave labor implications aside) and have finally caught up with the musical community for the week. Fortunately this means I'll finally pump out a Top 7! I'm using the fact that the last two fell on Christmas Day and New Year's Day as excuses.

By Celestia's grace it seems you ponies eased off on the music production this week. There was plenty, of course, just not quite the same enormous amount. So thanks for that.
Find this week's Top Selection below.

#7: Dashy/Hearth's Warming Eve - SoGreatandPowerful

This song might weird a couple of you out. That's only from prior reactions to the song.

It took me a bit to get the hang of it, but this track has really grown on me! The vocals are sweetly soft (though the lyrics do jar at times), the general tone is soft, it's just very... Nice. It takes a very different route to other Dash dedicated songs. I think one of SoGreatandPowerful's strengths in music is that brilliant synthetic flow he gets going. Prime example of it here around the 2:50-3:00 mark. I just really like it.

#6: The Heart Carol (Vocal Eurohoho Mix) - Eurobeat Brony + MrNewbyNewb

That carol was mighty fine, I though. I was quite happy to see Euroeat Brony put some extra umph to it, but I think his stuff is always better with lyrics. So I thank Mr Newby Newb for that addition. For those of you that wish to listen to the original, here it is Link.

#5: Old Hat, New Manehatten - Yourenigma

Why isn't there more pony jazz? I really like the tie-ins for this track and the Big Apple itself. The whole song has a very nice New York vibe to it. There really, really needs to be more of this sort of thing, and I'm still waiting for IBringDaLULZ to release another track along the lines of Stuck Here On The Moon! I need my jazzy pony fix! At least Yourenigma seems to be willing to provide.

#4: Discord Days - Psycosis

Right. I'm just going to leave this here and you guys can tell me if I'm allowed to place a full album in these lists or not. It's only one file, so that's legal, right?

I'm a pretty big fan of Gorillaz, Demon Days especially (Rock solid album), and I reckon this little mash-up works surprisingly well! Friendship Coming Out Of The Pony's Head at 16:40 was a complete surprise for me, and I'm sure no other Gorillaz fans will be able to pick what the creator chooses to mash with it either. At the heart, this was a really well done mash-up, to a really good album.

#3: Winter Wrap Up Trance Mix - &I

Now this took me by surprise. So much so that I almost made it Number One! Winter Wrap Up is such a damn good song at its heart and I'm glad the remixers haven't forgotten about it! Because, as we all know, not only is it a great song, it's a great seed for all kinds of terrific remixes and covers. Some of my Top 20 tracks are Winter Wrap Up remixes, and &I did not disappoint.

#1: Luna (Silva Hound Remix) - Silva Hound x Eurobeat Brony

Damn. This really was a two-way tie for Number One. Almost three-way.

This is a brilliant mix of one of Eurobeat brony's more famous songs. It has some fantastic builds and an absolutely pumping rhythm. Really, I'm astounded there are still remixes of songs this old coming out! For The New Lunar Republic seems to be immortal for that reason, and I'm happy to see "Luna" make such a glorious comeback. Silva Hound, this really is a fantastic track. I feel like saying a lot more, but instead I'll just dance. (And maybe review it fully later.)

#1:Deae Lunae - Makkon

Well, I think we all saw this coming. I was really, really close to placing the two songs above here, but I thought I'd just declare them all a tie and put Makkon at the top! I think I've prattled on about this song enough in my review, so suffice it to say that it's a really, really good song.

Unfortunately our great big project's floor fell through. It was very big, but it was a very small thing that didn't get done preventing us from doing it. *Sad Face*

Well, that's all for this week, folks! See you around, and keep up the great tunes!
