Music: Breakin' it Down

Oh Spike... One day you'll be a famous rapper like Twilight.

Well, I think we should really be picking up the rate of posting over here, as school is finally winding down. I've got a bit of a backlog as far s music goes, because there is a LOT of tunes that I think need to be shared out there. We'll start this week off, however, with some a bit of rap. Below, you can find a pretty sweet variety of lyrical maestros, both popular and disappointingly less-known, spinning narration and abuse.

{1} My Special Somepony is a Rapper - Gryfinz
{3} Sahar - IBringDaLULZ & Cyril
{4} What A Twist - Temporal Walker

Find them all after the break. (I strongly advise #3!)

My Special Somepony is a Rapper - Gryfinz

We'll turn this mother out with Gryfinz's cover of MandoPony's My Special Somepony is a DJ, which you may remember from a while ago as one of Mando's more successful leaps into the fluffy electronicka side of the musical spectrum. I really like both this and the original non-rap version, and it is totally NOT because I'm biased towards anything Vinyl Scratch related. You all know I'm completely unbiased, right?

Either way, the track really set itself up for a lyrical accompaniment, and I'm glad Gryfinz took advantage of that.

Sahar - IBringDaLULZ & Cyril

Yeah, it's almost impossible to mention pony rap without including Lulz, isn't it?
On the other hoof, this is a truly unique track to the community. It may use themes we've seen before (Lunar Republic vs Solar Empire, etc.), but the Middle Eastern tone comes right out of left field. Brony music veteran Swagberg handled the instrumental side of things, and demonstrates quite some capability with what is apparently a remix of For The New Lunar Republic. I really didn't notice until pretty late in. The lyrics and style of vocals, coupled with the noticeable backtrack, go together to create a very visible war-torn Equestria image. A unique style, and a unique track.

What A Twist - Temporal Walker

There ith not enough content for Twitht! Why doeth everyone hate her tho much? She'th adorable! And apparently, pretty darn good with wordth!

Temporal Walker shows uth how it'th done with a rough and tumble rap of thweet, pent-up aggwethion. Honethtly, thith ith one of the finetht exampleth of what I conthider to be true pony rap out there - Written from a pony'th perthpective, including referenceth, pony nameth, and properly good vocal takes. Living Tombthtone provideth a dethent enough backtrack, but the focuth ith eathily kept on the lyrithist.

And that, as they say, is a (w)rap.
