Equestrian Rhythm Closed For Business

Well, I think a lot of you probably assumed this was coming. We haven't updated the site for several weeks now, and I think it's about time we called it quits. I start up school again within a week and I should probably focus on that anyway. That, and I think Sonic30 might be dead (haven't been able to contact him).

It's been a pretty fun time, guys. I'm amazed at the response this little website received in such a short time. Someday we might start it up again, I had a fair amount of interviews organized. Primarily Makkon, which would've been great. *Sigh* Really, to put it straight, I've been out of the musical loop for about two weeks. Haven't really been listening to my tens of subscriptions, either! In fact, I've been listening to real music like Florence and the Machine, and a bit of nostalgic stuff from the early 2000's.

None of us have been writing reviews, either. I used to do it for school, actually. Y'know this entire site was originally designed as a community-based school assignment thing? I wanted something with ponies. If we return, we'll get Seth to throw it in a Nightly Roundup, so keep an eye on Equestria Daily. For music as well as news.

This whole "lack of drive" thing might disappear when winter rolls round, but until then...

Top 8 PMVs ~ December

Hello again everypony. Wow, have you seen this site lately?

Still cleaning up around here, it got pretty dusty, dunno why.

So another month has passed (more or less) and it's time for another Top 8!
Yeah, it's a bit late, but I drank way to much Sparkle Cola a couple of weeks back and got totally...

I was finally broken out of my little hiatus by Makkon's marvelous new song (and a delightful storm we just experienced), so I'm back on the proverbial horse (slave labor implications aside) and have finally caught up with the musical community for the week. Fortunately this means I'll finally pump out a Top 7! I'm using the fact that the last two fell on Christmas Day and New Year's Day as excuses.

By Celestia's grace it seems you ponies eased off on the music production this week. There was plenty, of course, just not quite the same enormous amount. So thanks for that.

Review 19: Deae Lunae - Makkon

Okay guys, after half a year of what I assume to be procrastination, Makkon has at last released the completed rendition of one of his first pony songs, "Luna Deos." The original blew me away with its beautiful strings and harmonious melodies. The bass in the background only furthered my appreciation, as did the simply marvelous timing and shudder-inducing build ups. As I commented in my review, I was astounded to hear that this was only a work in progress, and that he hoped to somehow make it better! Now, to me, this seemed impossible... Until I heard a short snippet of what he had planned a couple of months ago.

My expectations fully raised, I signed in today to discover that "Deae Lunae," the remastering of "Luna Deos," was uploaded at last. However, does it truly hold up to the original? Does it stand up to the fine name Makkon has crafted himself over the past Year of Pony? Can he hope to impress me? The hardest pony to impress in all of Equestria?!

Sellyme and EPT's Top 100 of 2011, Everfree Radio

 So our dearly frequent commenter and outrageous spell-check monster Sellyme has teamed up with Exploding Pony Toast ("Alex" in the comments) to create a Top 100 of 2011! A pretty darn big challenge to take on, considering the sheer amount of music created in the past year. And not only that, they hooked up with Everfree Radio to run a great big marathon of the songs to make it in!

Hosted by One-Trick and held on Wednesday January  4th 2012 – 8PM GMT, it's guaranteed to be a blast!  Below is some copy/paste, or you can check out the actual Everfree Radio post here. Looking forward to seeing the results, guys!

Update

So... I live in Australia... And here in Australia, we have a habit of getting great, big heatwaves around this time of year. That's not the reason I haven't been posting, but it's the reason that my posts will become even more irregular over the next week, or so.

These past two weeks have been a little holiday from the site for all of us, and in fact, although I'm ashamed to admit it... I fell slightly behind in pony music... There was no Top 7 last week, because it was Christmas for us, but this week I don't think I'll be able to manage either. It is literally too hot to have my computer on for any real amount of time. Really, an Aussie house with no air conditioning is one of the most evil of things! I'll try and have a review out soon, maybe even several to make up for the lack of Top 7s.

I can, however, assure you that something very large will be happening sometime around Saturday. Very large. Oh, and it'll involve you guys! Selly and PonyToast, no hints.

Edit: I wrote this thinking it was New Year's Day. The reason being I pulled an all nighter on New Year's Eve, and I lost Sunday in a tired, drunken haze. Also, hey look! The temperature gauge just reached 41 C in the house! I think I'm going to escape to the air conditioned cinema, now. See Tin Tin. Tin Tin was bloody brilliant, as was the air con. Go see it. All of you. Even you non-Tin Tin fans. And become a fan of Tin Tin already, it's great!

About 'Top 8 PMVs December'

Hello everypony!
By now I'll assume you've all seen the first Top 8 I did (November). I was really surprised at how well that turned out, It's still up there on the side bar. Anyway, due to the apparent success, I'll be writing up Top 8s every month from now on.

Today would be when I compiled this month's PMVs, review them for a few hours, and wrote it up. Unfortunately I am not at home right now, and where I'm staying lacks decent Interwebs. Therefore there will be a slight delay, a few days at most, but rest assured it will be done... AT ANY COST!
